Higher Education Personnel


Decisions

Marine Division of the Public Employment Relations Commission

Also known as the Marine Employees' Commission.

The Marine Employees' Commission (MEC) is intended to protect the rights of employers, employees, labor organizations, and the public by ensuring that the operation of the Washington State Ferry System is not disrupted by labor disputes. The MEC resolves unique and complex labor relations questions that arise in the operation of the Washington State Ferry (WSF) system. The Marine Employees' Commission is composed of three part-time Commissioners appointed by the Governor representing labor, industry, and maritime affairs.

Personnel Department

Washington State Human Resources (also known as the Washington State Personnel Department) provides that public employees can request a director's review of various employment actions taken against them. For example, a public employee can request director review of a performance evaluation process or an alleged violation of civil service laws

Personnel Appeals Board

Prior to the creation of the Personnel Resources Board, unrepresented and non-union represented permanent employees appealed employment decisions to the Personnel Appeals Board.

Decisions made by the Personnel Appeals Board can be located by keyword search or year, from Mar. 2000-2005.


Personnel Resources Board

A successor entity to the Personnel Appeals Board (see RCW 41.06.110), the Personnel Resources Board hears appeals from unrepresented and non-union represented permanent employees concerning the following employment actions taken against them: disciplinary actions including dismissal, suspension, demotion or reduction in base salary, layoff actions, alleged layoff rule violations, or exemption of his/her position.

Public Employment Relations Commission (PERC)

PERC is an independent state agency responsible for resolving disputes involving most public employers and employees, and the unions that represent those employees.

Recent decisions: summaries, arranged by employer name.

Published decisions: arranged by category (unfair labor practices, election results or certification decisions, other representation and unit clarification decisions, and interest arbitration awards) and then case number.

Interest arbitration awards: recent decisions are first arranged by date (since Sept. 2007); then all decisions are arranged by arbitrator, since 1976.
