Website of the Week Archive

Have you ever looked for a public opinion poll to include in a paper or to settle a bet? is a great resource for locating polls on political and news-related issues.

Major categories include

  • Elections
  • State of the Union (including the President, the Congress, and the Supreme Court)
  • National Security
  • In the News
  • Issues (such as global warming, immigration, same-sex marriage, and stem cell research).

The site is updated weekly as new poll results are issued. Sources include polls from the ABC, Associated Press, CBS/New York Times, CNN, Fox News, Gallup, NBC News/Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, the Pew Research Center, and USA Today.

For more sources of public opinion polls, see the UW Libraries Public Opinions page.

You can also find Gallup Polls on LexisNexis (Gallup Poll News Service and Gallup Poll Tuesday Briefing) and Westlaw (GALLUPBRIEF and GALLUPPOLL). Magazines, newsletters, and newspapers frequently refer to opinion polls, so search the appropriate news files too.

The UW Libraries provides access to a commerce source called Polling the Nations, a searchable database of surveys and public opinion polls from around the world.
