The website former known as Firstgov is now USA.gov.
This portal is a primary point of entry for federal government information,
as well as information from state, local, and tribal governments. The site
offers users several ways to locate relevant material
Tabs provide information selected for specific populations:
- citizens
- business and nonprofits
- federal employees
- government-to-government
- visitors to the US
The left side navigation bar:
- groups material by organization
- links to directories and frequently asked questions
- directs users to key reference sources for data and statistics, forms,
laws and regulations, libraries, photos and multimedia, etc.
- offers numerous email newsletters from a wide variety of agencies
A new feature that premiered with the name change is a live chat option.
Anyone with a question about federal services or programs can engage a federal
information specialist in a web chat. This service is available Monday through
Friday from noon to 8pm, EST. |
