American Bar Association, Conversations on the Constitution

The ABA's Division for Public Education designed this website "to encourage civil discussion and debate about the meaning of some of the Constitution's concepts and clauses that have been the subject of ongoing constitutional debates."

The website focuses on several topics:

  • The Preamble
  • Cruel and unusual punishment
  • War powers
  • Separation of powers
  • The advice and consent of the Senate
  • An establishment of religion
  • Unreasonable searches and seizures

Discussion topics, links to documents and related sites, "test your knowledge" quizzes, lessons for schools, and other resources are available.

This materials works well with other educational resources dedicated to Constitution Day, September 17th. which commemorates the signing of the Constitution on September 17, 1787 by the delegates to the Constitutional Convention.
