Seattle Municipal Archives,

The Archives is responsible for "identifying, acquiring, arranging, describing, preserving, and making accessible . . . the records of enduring value created or received by City agencies and elected officials." The Archives are open to the public and contain a wealth of interesting resources, including records from:

  • mayors
  • city council members and committees
  • other elected officials and department heads

and records about:

  • election results
  • Pike Place Market
  • parks and recreation
  • the Great Fire of 1889.

More than 47,000 photographs are found in the Archives, searchable online and with digital images.
