The World Bank Groupís mission is to fight poverty and improve the living standards of people in the developing world. It is a development Bank which provides loans, policy advice, technical assistance and knowledge sharing services to low and middle income countries to reduce poverty.

The World Bank's website offers a tremendous amount of information about the Bank's activities. The following list includes a sampling:

  • World Development Indicators, 2003: a statistical compilation dealing with People, the Environment, Economies, States and Markets, and related data
  • descriptions of World Bank activities by region of the world and by individual country
  • evaluation reports such as Power for Development: A Review of the World Bank Group's Experience with Private Participation in the Electricity Sector (Oct. 2003) and Debt Relief for the Poorest: An OED Review of the HIPC Initiative (Feb. 2003)
  • opportunities and jobs for job-seekers, vendors, investors, organizations, and specialists
