The National Security Archive presents the first in a series of electronic briefing books containing official government papers and studies on terrorism and the U.S. response. The website contains the full text of selected:

  • CIA, Congressional Research Service, FBI, General Accounting Office, National Commission on Terrorism, and State Department reports
  • Department of Defense directives, instructions, reports, and statements (including several on the attack on the USS Cole)
  • National Security Decision Directives and related press releases and fact sheets
  • Presidential directives and executive orders

Some of these documents were obtained as a result of Freedom of Information Act requests. Interested researchers may sign up for email notification when new source books are available.    

This item joins a wealth of website resources dealing with the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon that is found on the Gallagher Law Library website, http://lib.law.washington.edu/ref/sept11.html
