U.S. Department of State, International Religious Freedom Report for 2001, 

As required by section 102(b) of the International Religious Freedom Act of 1998 (22 U.S.C. 6412), the State Department has prepared a report describing

  • the status of religious freedom in foreign countries, 
  • violations of religious freedom and persecution of religious groups,
  • U.S. actions and policies supporting religious freedom in foreign countries, and
  • relevant international agreements.

This third report, which covers July 1, 2000 to June 30, 2001, includes reports on 195 countries. The online version of the Report is arranged by geographic area: Africa, East Asia and the Pacific, Europe and Eurasia, Near East and North Africa, South Asia, and the Western Hemisphere. Appendices include:

  • the Universal Declaration of Human Rights,
  • the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the Declaration on the Elimination of All Forms of Intolerance and of Discrimination Based on Religion or Belief, and
  • an overview of U.S. refugee policy.
