This extensive photographic collection is another product of the Library of Congress American Memory project. In conjunction with the Northwestern University Library, the Library offers more than 2000 images of the "traditional customs and lifeways of eighty Indian tribes" captured by Edward Curtis.

The original 20-volume set from which these images are taken is available at Special Collections in the basement of the south wing of the Allen Library (E77.C98 1970 at Reference). Many other books by Curtis are also available there and at other libraries on campus. Search the UW Libraries Catalog by the author's name to locate these materials.
