The Gallagher Law Library offers legal research assistance in several ways. You may:

- Review a legal research
guide to learn how to conduct particular types of legal research and to
see lists of books, databases, and websites helpful for legal research
- Use the Internet Legal
Resources page to identify and link to free web-based sources for Washington State and U.S.
legal materials. This page also includes selected links for foreign, comparative, and
international legal research; legal portals, and meta-sites; and a list of printed guides
to legal and government information on the Internet.
- Search the Gallagher Law Library's web-based catalog, MARIAN, to identify books and other materials.
- Search the commercial computer-assisted legal research
services, LexisNexis and Westlaw (restricted to UW
law school students and faculty).
- Search other catalogs, databases, and indexes through the UW Libraries Research Databases
page. (Note: The
Gateway includes links to many commercial services to which the University of Washington
subscribes. Access to these databases is restricted to users who visit one of the UW
Libraries and to UW students, faculty, and staff who access the web via a University of
Washington connection.)
- Contact the East Asian Law Department for assistance in
locating and using Chinese, Korean, or Japanese legal materials.
