Networking with Martindale-Hubbell

Suppose youre thinking about going to work in Denver. Maybe you dont know any lawyers in Denver and you dont have an idea about how to start networking. Consider searching for UW grads contacting a grad might be a good way to break the ice in an unfamiliar city. I used the Martindale-Hubbell Colorado Directory on LEXIS-NEXIS and searched for

location(denver) and law-school("university of washington")

That turned up 15 lawyers, including several from the UW. The others went to "American University, Washington College of Law" that is, the search had some "false drops." If you want to search for the UW and avoid other law schools with "Washington" in their names, you can search for

law-school(university pre/2 washington and not catholic and not george! and not american).

You might also consider your college. Do you think a fellow alumnus from your college would be willing to chat with an up-and-coming law student? If so, try a search like this:

location(denver) and college(pacific lutheran)
