Security Alert

A law professor up in the stacks recently was horrified to discover not one, but two laptops sitting unattended. When he came back 10 minutes later, horror of horrors, they were still unattended! This prompted him to make a comment about the "foolishness of this trust in human nature..."

So now seems like a good opportunity to plead with you, please, don't leave your valuables unattended. We in the Seattle area have a reputation for being trusting souls, but there are those who would take advantage of that trust. Plus, when you have something stolen, we in the Library must deal with security and listen to your cries of anguish and gnashing of teeth, and we'd rather not.

CILP on the Web

The Current Index to Legal Periodicals (CILP) is a not-for-profit publication that has been prepared on a weekly basis by law librarians and staff of the Marian Gould Gallagher Law Library since 1948. CILP provides timely topical access to approximately 475 law school reviews and other selected legal journals under 100 subject headings. In addition, CILP provides full tables of contents of all journals indexed. CILP is available 4-6 weeks before commercial legal periodicals indexes such as the Index to Legal Periodicals and the Legal Resource Index. CILP strives to provide researchers with the fastest, most cost-effective current awareness tool available.

The latest incarnation of CILP appears on the Internet, and it's called, appropriately, WebCILP. This site is available for free to members of the University of Washington community, and contains the most recent 6 (weekly) issues of CILP. You can search for articles by subject, view tables of contents from the journals indexed that week, or view a whole issue of CILP.

Note that you can only access this database with a UW IP account. You'll be fine using any computer on campus, but from home you will have to connect using the UW Connectivity Kit, not a commercial internet provider. You can either go to the Gallagher Law Library home page and follow the links or you can go directly to the WebCILP page.
