Tools for Finding Laws
In addition to searching for laws in databases or print publications, it is often fruitful to search the websites of government agencies. Some examples are included below. All agency websites are in Korean but most have limited information in English as well. (Usually there's an "English" tab in the upper right hand corner.) Information in English is never as complete as in Korean.

- Ministry of Legislation 법제처, http://www.moleg.go.kr/. Includes text of selected Economic Laws.
- Ministry of Justice 법무부, http://www.moj.go.kr/. English website includes news and a very limited number of legal texts.
- Ministry of the Environment 환경부, http://www.me.go.kr/. English homepage has lists and summaries of laws.
- Ministry of Information and Communication 정보통신부, http://www.mic.go.kr/. List of laws in English, text in Korean. (Choose Resource ==> Rule and Regulations)
- Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) 특허청, http://www.kipo.go.kr/. Includes section "IP Laws and Treaties" with links to PDF versions of English translations.
- Thomas H. Reynolds & Arturo A. Flores, Foreign Law: Current Sources of Codes and Basic Legislation in Jurisdictions of the World, 1989- . See Korea in the Asia volume [v.3A]. Includes discussion of how laws are published and a brief list of English translations by subject area.

- Ministry of Legislation 법제처 (Korean and English), http://www.moleg.go.kr/. Includes the Comprehensive Legal Information Service System, an on-line database of integrated legislative information and court cases created by the MOLEG in cooperation with the Supreme Court. Contains a variety of Acts, regulations, court cases, and books on jurisprudence. Information is searchable by word/phrase, subject term, amendment number, title, case number and so on.

- Internet Search Engines: Use internet search engines to look for laws by title in English or Korean. Try Google, for example:
http://www.google.com/ (for English searches), Google 한글 http://www.google.com/intl/ko/ (for Korean searches). This works for some websites but not for those where the laws are in a database.
- Marian (Law Library On-line Catalog), http://marian.law.washington.edu/. Search for laws by name (English or Korean) as books cataloged separately or as included in books. Note that another method is to search for "Korea South" as "author")
