Treatises and Other Books
Japanese legal publishers produce hundreds of new books yearly in Japanese.  In addition, Western publishers produce a variety of books on Japanese law in English and other languages.  Several North American libraries, including the Marian Gould Gallagher Law Library collect these materials on academic topics in Japanese law, and have extensive collections with imprints dating from the 19th century and earlier.  These books include treatises, edited volumes, festschriften (ronbunshū [論文集]), and annotated laws.
