General Facts About Legalbase
  • Description
There are various versions of Legalbase, some full text, some not full text (used as indexes), some covering both cases and statutes, some only cases.  The version we have at the Marian Gould Gallagher Law Library is:
リーガルベース判例版全判例要旨 (Legalbase Cases Edition; Summary of All Cases)
  • Coverage
    • Coverage begins in about 1946.  The coverage is listed on a sheet that accompanies each new CDROM release.  The sheet lists specific titles of reporters indexed, and the range of issues for each one covered.  For example, as of May 20th, 2004, Legalbase indexed volumes 1-57, no. 4 (August 2003) of 最高裁判所民事判例集 [Saikō Saibansho minji hanreishū] (The Supreme Court Reporter, Civil).
    • The CD is updated twice a year
    • For more recent cases, subscribers to Legalbase can access the Legalbase online database.
  • Location and Other Notes
    • In the Marian Gould Gallagher Law Library, the Legalbase CDROM is located in Rob Britt's office (L137).   Contact Rob to set up a time to use it.
    • Legalbase comes with a manual in Japanese
    • The laptop in Rob's Office is set up to run the CD
