Charles Horowitz (1905-1989) received his both his B.A. and his LL.B. from
the University of Washington, in 1925 and 1927, respectively. Later he
earned an M.A. in Jurisprudence at Oxford University in 1952.
He was in private practice for forty years and he was a partner in
Preston, Thorgrimson, Horowitz, Starin & Ellis (1933-69).
In 1969 he was appointed to the Washington State Court of Appeals
(Division I) and served until 1975, when he became a justice of the
Washington State Supreme Court. He retired in 1980.
The Washington Law Review dedicated an issue to Justice Horowitz in March

Cosway (56 Wash. L. Rev. 171).
The Saul and Dayee G. Haas
Foundation donated a fund to the Law Library in his memory, to be used
for books in the area of jurisprudence. The fund has been depleted and is no
longer active.
