Alfred E. Harsch graduated from the School of Law in 1928 and spent several
years in private practice. He also taught in the UW College of Business.
He joined the Law School faculty in 1935 and except for some leaves for
public service stayed until his retirement in 1967.
His public service included advising the Territory of Alaska on its tax
system in the 1940s, serving as Puget Sound rent director for the Office of
Price Administration during World War II, and advising the Republic of Korea
on its tax system in 1959-60. He served as acting dean of the School of Law
in 1949-50 and 1951-52.
When Professor Harsch died in 1990, his widow, Dorothy Harsch,
established a book fund in his memory. |
